You are staying at a guest house for our Community. We hope to make it available to discerning travelers who wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of Southeastern Arizona and explore the Chiricahua National Monument, old ghost towns (Tombstone, Pierce, etc), Wine Tasting, Rex Allen Museum, and much, much more. There is room to relax and to pray. This, hopefully will be your home away from home. Plenty of space for the dogs to run around and burn off some pent up energy from the trip. Under the pergola you can enjoy your dining with your favorite local Willcox wines from which we have gained deserved fame. Apple Annie's pies are 5 minutes driving distance. You can buy them ready made or bake them in the kitchen. The full service TV with DISH "America's Everything ( HBO, Stars,...)," in the living room should make your stay enjoyable. National parks, Tombstone, Bisbee and other ghost towns are all with an hour's drive from this hub. Wine tasting from the many local wineries is "a must." Willcox itself is a great visit as it's historic center is where Wayne Earp (Wyatt's brother) was shot and died. The historic Willcox theater and the oldest store in Arizona grace our town. Agua Prieta, Mexico is but an hour away and historic Douglas is worth the visit. We hope to serve you and, anticipating your arrival: "Welcome home." You will have free run of the living rooms, dining areas, kitchens. We hope you will bring your groceries or if you need for Moramay to prepare something, you may dialog with her. Feel free to prepare your meals and dine where you will outside or in the four various dining areas. If you are a large group, there is space for large area dining indoors.

This is a bedroom that has a shared bathroom (with another available around the corner). Walk-in shower (no stepping up). All the comforts of home. You will share the home with me (although I spend much of my time away) and another guest's room. We are centrally located on the extreme edge of the city with only a few neighbors. Quiet nights, peaceful days. We are close to national parks, monuments, Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas, Tuscon, and Agua Prieta, Mexico. We are a one-hour drive from everything. An ideal location, 3 minutes from I-10 (which you can see in the distance, but not hear at all!). I love this place. It is God's country and I think you'll love it too.

Feel free to prepare your meals and dine where you will outside or in the four various dining areas. If you are a large group, there is space for large area dining indoors. There is a ramp for easy access to anyone with special needs. Other things to note There is no public transportation. Distances are vast between towns. The nearest big city is Tucson and there a other towns of similar size (Benson, Safford, Douglas...) all around an hour's drive by car. There is a Greyhound stop in Willcox if we are your destination. But a car is a must. No UBER, nor Lyft and no taxi service and no municipal bus service. If you are planning an excursion into Mexico (Agua Prieta or Naco, Sonora) it is best to bring your passport. You may not need it, but it is proof that you are a U.S. citizen (if that be the case). In any case, you will need an identification card. The drive into Tombstone forces you to pass a secondary border check facility. If you have any immigration issues, it is a bad idea to go South to Tombstone, Bisbee, Douglas, Sierra Vista, Elfrida, etc. without the necessary documentation so to avoid deportation.

Cabin (16 sq. ft.) in Benson, AZ
50.7 miles from Roper Lake
Built in the ancient floodplain of the fabled San Pedro River, this rustic old cabin has been fully electrified and refurbished. It is 1 room with a large screened porch doubling its living space. It has a double bed - towels, pillows and bed linens provided. There is a counter for eating and food prep plus a sink with hot water and small refrigerator, a microwave, toaster oven and all sorts of electrical appliances for cooking. Heating is with a small pot bellied wood stove that came out of a caboose. Wood is provided. No need to bring bottled water. The bathhouse is separate with a hot shower, colorful Mexican sink and a composting toilet. There is additional space and refrigeration for food storage for long term stays. Sustainability is a watchword in this community which is most concerned about the impact to the land and its creatures that we humans bring. Outdoors next to the cabin is a Mexican adobe fireplace with a grill. Sit by the fire in the evening or get it going early and cook your meal there. The cabin seems to have an old fashioned 'pay it forward' atmosphere as people often voluntarily fill the woodbox for the next guest and leave the place surprisingly clean. Of course there are the sounds and smells of the animals along with a dusty atmosphere. We are part of a working ranch operation. If this is objectionable, this isn't the place for you. Please ask questions before booking if you are uncertain about something. This is wilderness. Interested in Conservation Ranching? Know someone who is? We’re always looking for folks who would like to learn about what we are doing and would like to help. There’s often a fence to check on range (spectacular views), cows to look for on range (great hiking to find them if you can), or mesquite treelets and thistle to dig out of the irrigated pastures. Let us know if this is something you would like to explore, and we’ll work out a plan. Own vehicle essential. Regarding cleaning during Covid. I limit the number of minimum day stays to minimize the traffic through the cabin and while I don't wash with extremely hot water, everything hangs out in the sun for hours. In the cabin/bathhouse I additionally use a UV=C light for sanitizing.

Guest House (600 sq. ft.) in Cochise, AZ
52.7 miles from Roper Lake
Visit our historical ranch, built in 1896, and stay in the original adobe cowboy bunkhouse at Mi Ranchito. Enjoy our paintings and artifacts that we hope will create an atmosphere of days of old. During the day enjoy the desert colors and views of the Chiricahua, Dos Cabasas, and Dragoon mountains. Relax and watch the birds and wild life that are abundant in the area, bobcats, coyotes, ringtail cats, deer, javelina, quail, rabbits, doves, hawks, owls, and our local roadrunner and his sometime female guest. In the winter you will see thousands of Sandhill Cranes that winter in the nearby Sulfur Springs Valley. In the evenings enjoy our spectacular sunsets and amazing stargazing with clear desert skies. Mi Ranchito is located in the heart of western history. A 50 Minute drive will take you to the Town of Tombstone “The Town to Tough to Die” with its famous Boot Hill Cemetery and loads of history or to Bisbee which was once a thriving silver and copper mining town and its famous “purple pit” which proved to be one of the richest mining sites in the world. There are several smaller ghost towns in the vicinity which were known for mining. It is worth a drive to visit Pearce where you will find the old Pearce jail and an antique and pottery shop run by a wonderful lady named Patty. Right around the corner is Marcia’s Garden Handcrafted Goat Milk Soaps and Lotions and a barnyard of fun goats that you can pet. Do stop by and enjoy some local color. Not much remains of the ghost towns of Gleason and Courtland but there is plenty of hiking and just reflecting on days gone by. A must to see is Cochise Stronghold Canyon, a short drive from the ranch through picturesque pistachio and almond orchards. This was the final refuge for Cochise, the great Chiricahua Apache Chief. This was home to Cochise and his people for many years. The Canyon offers a wide variety of plant life, wildlife and rugged cliffs with many springs and streams, plenty of bird watching, and hiking. Explore the unique ecology and geology of this historical area. Want to go horseback riding? Visit the Triangle T Ranch that has a wonderful restaurant and saloon with entertainment located 10 miles from Mi Ranchito. Enjoy riding in the incredible Texas Canyon with it’s breath taking rock formations and scenic views. Cowboy celebrities such as John Wayne, Will Rodgers and Steve McQueen once walked the grounds of the ranch. There is so much to do besides just relaxing such as: Visit Fort Bowie National Historic Site and learn about the history of the Southwest –Kartchner Caves State Park, the largest wet cavern in the United States and just recently discovered. (highly recommended) –At least a dozen local wineries- The Amerind Foundation Museum – and the Gadson Hotel in Douglas (wonderful restaurant) - Faraway Ranch, one of the oldest ranches in southern Arizona, dates back to pre-Civil War. There is much more but, we will leave this up to your imagination and fortitude.

Historical railroad boxcar home from late 1800's. Originally the Train Masters house. Our Train Masters house is a historical railroad boxcar home from the late 1800's. Truly a unique and creative piece of architecture. Located in beautiful downtown Dragoon "where the mountains meet the sky". We have the best and most stable weather in the country and we offer the best in Southwestern Native hospitality. The space A few steps away is the Lozen Art Gallery and Gift Shop where you will find wonderful original works of art and gifts. This establishment was once the Dragoon Summit Station 1876. Then in 1881 it became the US Post Office and Wells Fargo Line. The town of Dragoon once had a population of 5,000 people. Now there are only 400. Other things to note Dragoon is a small rural town in Cochise County. Shopping for groceries and other necessities is at least a 15 minute drive to Benson or 25 minutes to Wilcox on I10.

Cabin (1100 sq. ft.) in Cochise, AZ
59.2 miles from Roper Lake
Lovely and comfortable adobe, stone and wood home in a remote location in Cochise Stronghold. Peaceful and quiet with exceptional hiking literally at your back door. The Cochise Stronghold Canyon (elev. 5,000 ft), is uniquely situated in secluded woodlands surrounded by granite boulders soaring 7,000 feet. Whether for casual hiking, climbing or bird watching, the cabin offers a comfortable and serene starting point. Two decks offer different views to relax and watch the wildlife and the stars. The canyon is famously known as the final refuge (and resting place) of the great Chiricahua Apache Chief Cochise. This rugged natural fortress was, for some 15 years back in the 1860s, the home and base of operations for Cochise and his people. Many wonders await you in the canyon - hiking interpretive trails, bird watching, traversing gentle boulders, climbing world-class cliffs, and incredible stargazing! There are miles of trails to explore the unique ecology and geology of the area. Here you can fill your days and evenings with the honest pleasures of life…you will feel as though you've stepped back in time to experience the enchantment of the Old West. There is campground a quarter of a mile at the end of the road. There, interpretive trails take you amid the boulders and among the junipers and oaks. This canyon has few full-time residents. You may (if you're lucky) see one or two friendly neighbors walking or driving down the dirt road during the day but generally, the canyon is quite secluded and quiet. You'll have full access to the comfortably decorated cabin, including two bedrooms (one queen, one full-size bed), living room with floor to ceiling rock fireplace (with comfortable and sleepable couch), modern kitchen, full bathroom and two patios from which to enjoy quite different views. This is a perfect place to enjoy a short or extended getaway to truly benefit from nature's serenity. While we promise it may be difficult to leave the cabin, there are some very cool excursions within a 45-minute drive, including a drive to Bisbee (a quaint and now artsy former mining town), Kartchner Caverns (largest wet cavern in the U.S.), Tombstone (the famed “town too tough to die"), and lots of smaller ghost towns along the way. The property is pet-friendly but it's not wise to let them run unattended. We ask that guests stay for a minimum of three nights to offset the cost of cleaning/maintaining the house. If you would like to stay for less than three nights, please send us a message, we'll get back to you. There is Internet/Wifi access, a large flat-screen television with DVD player (no cable/satellite) and a great collection of movies, a few board games, and a small adult mountain bike to take jaunts down the trails. There are two bedrooms, each containing a comfortable queen size bed. The master bedroom also has an ottoman that opens to a child/toddler sleeping mattress. The couch in the living room is one of the most favored sleeping areas. Additionally, there are comfortable bed cushions in the master closet that can serve as additional sleeping or resting areas.

Tasteful interiors, sweeping desert and mountain vistas, memorable sunsets and the changing colors of the day, as well as starry night skies, make just being there a pleasure. The many living areas and well distributed spaces make it cozy for small groups but also very suitable for large groups. It is great for family gatherings and reunions of friends because of the large expandable dining room table, which makes it also good for celebrating special occasions. It is a real home away from home with a well-equipped kitchen, good WIFI reception and an excellent selection of books and DVDs. There are two living rooms and two TVs, which can be useful if children are part of your party. Artists, academics and nature lovers find it a beautiful and peaceful place to work in and relax. House (750 sq. ft.) in Oracle, AZ
62.1 miles from Roper Lake
La Casita is nestled on 2.3 secluded acres next to the Coronado National Forest. The comfortable vintage cottage has good light and sweeping views of the foothills and woodlands around it. A beautiful garden and various outdoor sitting areas provide relaxing places to enjoy quiet nature and many species of birds who live there. The Oracle Ridge trailhead to Mt. Lemmon is just a 5-minute walk from the house. These features and more are what make your stay at La Casita so enjoyable and special. La Casita is available for booking through December 2021. Please inquire first regarding booking dates in 2022 or later. Description of the property: The cottage is far from the road among the oak trees and native desert vegetation. This private place is ideal for those who want a natural environment to relax and revive in. It is excellent as a retreat or place to work. The house works well as a quiet concentrated workspace. It is laptop friendly with two large tables, comfortable office chairs, and easily accessible outlets. The excellent, reliable wifi - 20 meg, is the highest speed available in the area. La Casita has the charm of a real home, it is vintage with an eclectic artistic flavor. The cottage is all about comfort with good seating in the sunny living room with its beautiful views of the National Forest. A compact kitchen is complete with all you need for creating simple tasty meals. For the rest, the house is LOW tech, there is a radio that receives local stations, but no TV. There are sleeping arrangements for 2 persons. The double bed in the bedroom has a view of the sunrise shining on the mountain and the couch in the living room makes up into a comfortable full-sized bed for one person. A special feature of the property is the beautiful large 'Butterfly Garden' with shade trees and arid plants that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Here you will want to relax in the swing or sit at the table under the trees. There are several sitting areas around the cottage with different views that offer shade or sun depending on the time of day or season. In the evening the garden is lit and becomes a magical inviting place to enjoy. Gorgeous sunsets can be seen from the house and the night skies are perfect for stargazing. Oracle is in a 'Dark Skies Zone' and from its hillside, the house overlooks the dark expansive National Forest. Birders will be happy with the many species around the bird feeder (bird food is supplied). Wildlife such as coyotes, javelinas, deer, rabbits, and bobcats come close to the house often to drink from the water station. Oracle is a haven for hikers, there are many trails in the area that offer amazing adventures and scenery. The Oracle Ridge trailhead that goes to the top of Mt. Lemmon is five minutes' walk from the house and definitely advised. Also, the Oracle State Park, 5 minutes by car, has wonderful trails that look out over the San Pedro Valley and Galiuro Mountains. Catalina State Park with spectacular lower desert scenery and trails is 20 minutes away, and much more is available in the area. The most important aspect of La Casita is the experience of quiet serenity and connection to nature. The ever-changing views of the foothills as the sun moves across them, the birds that fly in and out of the garden calling to each other, and the delicate occasional sound of the wind chimes connect one with nature. The peaceful privacy creates a unique energy that makes La Casita so special. For this reason, I don't ask my guest to leave early but allow them to stay until mid-afternoon so they can fully enjoy the serenity before departing. Guest Access In addition to the house, guests are encouraged to explore the large private yard and enjoy the gardens and wooded areas that surround the house with the many different sitting areas. You will feel complete privacy and peace in all the areas. Upon your arrival: Once you have been greeted and introduced to the house by Chuck the caretaker you are left to enjoy the quiet privacy of La Casita. Chuck lives nearby and is available for help or information if needed. and of course, you can message me as well.

Caravan (350 sq. ft.) in Benson, AZ
63.3 miles from Roper Lake
Hello All! Welcome to Ranchito Paraiso. We recently bought this fixer upper property with the vision of creating a haven for travelers, artists, writers, musicians, yogis, poets, campers and kind folk. We speak French, English and Spanish. We live onsite in the ranch house about 150 yards away. We provide complimentary beer, wine, organic coffee and tea and breakfast items to welcome you your first night. The Ranchito features Kassandra - a 400sf 1995 Royals International Emissary luxury RV dubbed by guests as the “micro mansion” ??????. Checkin is contactless and we apply all precautionary COVID-19 protocols. Kassandra is sanitized before and after each check-in. Linens are high quality, sanitized and fresh. We wear masks and practice social distancing. Kassandra lives under the cottonwoods with views of a pond behind a majestic agave garden. Kassandra is a spacious, elegant RV ideal for a couple and 2-3 children or up to 3 adults. The living area is quite open and can accommodate three twin beds nicely. There are three private outdoor seating areas. One includes a fire pit under the stars. We can provide a BBQ grill upon request. IMPORTANT: The restroom in Kassandra has a Swedish import (just recently available in the USA) Separett Villa 9215 State of the Art odorless composting toilet. It is not a flush toilet. Guests must be comfortable with the composting concept before committing to staying at the Ranchito. Please be assured. Kassandra is not rustic. She is elegant :) There is a Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix and WIFI. Benson is a small town so restaurants other than Denny’s or Wendy’s tend to close by 8pm. Safeway is close by as well as a Super Walmart. Benson is on the Amtrak line and we will gladly pick you up from the train station, which is one mile away. We can also provide two bicycles for your use. Ranchito Paraiso is located just 3/4 mile north of I-10, 40 minutes to downtown Tucson, 40 minutes to Bisbee and 20 minutes to Tombstone. The Ranchito is also a short drive to Kartchner Caverns, Colossal Caves, Patagonia and AZ wine country. Although we are in quite a secluded spot, the train tracks are but a mile away and the freeway is 3/4 miles away, so you may hear the occasional train or the hum of freeway noise. We are pet-friendly and if you are traveling with horses, cows or other livestock, we can accommodate them if you have your own panels. Airport and bus shuttles from Tucson and Phoenix are available. Please inquire for more details. Well-behaved pets are welcome, but more than two dogs would be a little much - please contact me to see if we can accommodate more. We do not have a fenced-in dog area at the moment, although there is plenty of room for your dogs to chase a ball :). (AZ TPT 21336263)

***2 Night minimum *** HOLIDAYS-4 Night Minimum NO PETS! This home is located underneath another cabin. Both have separate private entrances. Shared patio. For this reason this 3 bedroom 2 bath nightly rate is discounted. This gorgeous mountain home is located in the Santa Catalina Mountains located in the Coronado National Forest north of Tucson, Arizona. It is located in Mt. Lemmon which is 9,157 feet above sea-level and receives approximately 180 inches of snow annually. Summerhaven is the beautiful small town near the top of the mountain. This home is within walking distance to this town. It is a summer residence for some Tucson residents. It is near Ski Valley which is the southernmost ski destination in the US. This beautiful home is two levels of spacious living. The views are breath taking and especially while sitting out on the beautiful stone patio under the star lit sky, among over 80 fruit trees. There is a built in fire pit located on the patio next to the built in BBQ grill and includes patio set. The kitchen is fully equipped for entertaining family and guests. This serene setting is always 45 degrees cooler in the summer than Tucson! Temperatures range anywhere from 60 to 75 degrees in the summer. There are many hiking trails, all of which we have information on located in the cabin for your enjoyment. Also located near this home is the incredible University of Arizona, Mt. Lemmon Sky Center. This SkyCenter presents programs all nights of the week and during the days in summer months. Information for reservations also available in the home. This program is an exceptional science learning facility! Also located near this home is the Rose Canyon Lake and resort. This lake is surrounded by Pondersoa Pines and although this area burned during the devastating Aspen Fire of 2003, many of the larger trees survived. The Catalina Highway, also called the Mt. Lemmon Highway runs up the Santa Catalina Mountains, from the east of Tucson up to Summerhaven. Get your camera out for the ride up, there are plenty of stops along the way for stopping for breathtaking views and photos. Cabin (938 sq. ft.) in Mount Lemmon, AZ
65 miles from Roper Lake
Welcome to Three Bears Cabin! We are a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, pet friendly, year round cabin located just behind the Shrine/General Store in Summerhaven perfect for family getaways! 2021 Summer update: VRBO is best way to book our cabin.  We are currently sold out for the summer. Message us for any cancellation spots. Starting 1 September we have a two night minimum. For winter months (November-March) we keep the calendar open only 2-3 weeks at a time due to unpredictable winter snow and difficult nature of accessing Summerhaven if roads are closed. Thank you for visiting!  We have recently renovated the inside and redone the deck and added air conditioning. Located within walking distance of the main street in town, our cabin can be enjoyed year round as we have central heat and easy access from the main road in town. We pride ourselves on being kid friendly and welcome well-behaved pets and owners ;) Please understand we care for our neighbors and this mountain, and therefore we are interested in booking our cabin out to respectful couples, families, or small groups of friends. This cabin is not suitable for loud, wild partying and it will not be tolerated. Our cabin is a place where you can relax and truly unwind - we know you will create wonderful memories up here in this gorgeous unique environment! This cabin will comfortably fit, at most, 2 couples and a few children. The couch in the living room is not a sleeper couch. 4 beds: King, Queen, Full and 1 Twin. The Top Bunk is a reading nook, not a sleeping space, but there is a twin bed next to the bunk. We do not allow any type of open flames anywhere on the property. The risk of wildfire is just too great! We do, however, allow dura-flame type logs in the fireplace and have a propane fire pit outside for your use and provide propane. There is no vaping or smoking inside the property. If we find that were to occur, a large cleaning fee will be charged in order to rid the cabin of the smell so the next guests won't be inconvenienced, this can run as much as $400. We have a stone wheelchair ramp and hardwood floors, and two ADA compliant toilets, but inner doorways may not be wide enough to be ADA compliant. We have a large oversized shower with a small step up that has two benches. Please message me if you have someone in your party who may need to know more specifics, and we hope we can accommodate them. ***WINTER BOOKINGS ONLY*** November - March !!!! ***VERY IMPORTANT*** In winter conditions, chains or 4WD may be required by the Pima County Sheriff's Department in order to travel up to the top of the mountain. We have no control over this decision - so if you rent our cabin during the winter you must understand this and be prepared. Road Conditions Hotline: 520-749-8700. If the road is closed to only residents we can provide an escort or a pass, but if you travel unprepared for the conditions as required by the Sheriffs (not having 4WD or chains) there is little we can do and your reservation might need to be cancelled less a penalty fee or your trip delayed until they open the road to non 4WD vehicles. It is just how it is in this unique part of Arizona! Please contact us with any further questions or concerns. Please note: Although we have year round access to our cabin, our driveway is steep (it is paved). In icy conditions, 4WD will be required to park immediately next to the cabin...even if the main road to town is open to non 4WD vehicles. There is a parking area below the cabin for non-4WD vehicles which will then require you to walk up to the cabin with your luggage (see listing photos or) so please take this into consideration. Mt Lemmon is truly a winter paradise when it snows but storms can be tremendous. We can lose power (heat!) so we watch the weather carefully and may ask you to cut your vacation short if a large storm is approaching because we have had guests get stuck and be dangerously low on food with no help available (white out conditions on the road). Many people do not know how challenging it can be at the top of Mount Lemmon during a storm, so we want to make sure everyone is aware and prepared if they rent during winter months. Winter time in Summerhaven is magical as long as you are prepared !

Cabin (2000 sq. ft.) in Mt Lemmon, AZ
65 miles from Roper Lake
The “Restful Roost” is a 2,000 square foot modern log cabin nestled among soaring pine trees on Mount Lemmon in Arizona at an elevation of 7,815 feet. It is a mere quarter mile walk from the quaint village of Summerhaven but you’d never know it. Enjoy bird watching, wind listening, and star gazing from one of two decks, both of which have a tree-house feel. Bighorn fire update: Our cabin and surrounding area were not touched by the fire and are fully intact, as are all structures in Summerhaven. Unfortunately, all hiking trails around Mt. Lemmon are CLOSED as a safety precaution following the fire. Trails are slated to be re-opened November 1, 2020, if not earlier. The cabin has a fully-equipped country kitchen, two wood burning fireplaces (one in the family room and one in the master), large skylights (including one over the master bed that is ideal for moon/stargazing), a sleeping loft for the kiddies or young at heart, and a wall of windows offering treetop views. It consists of three levels. The main level includes the kitchen, dinning area, family room, two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a large deck (a third of which is covered). The upper level consists of the master bedroom and bath, loft area, sleeping loft, and a deck. The bottom level is comprised of the laundry room and various utility closets. As for beds, the master has a king, one of the bedrooms has a queen and twin bunks, and the other bedroom has a queen. The sleeping loft has two twins. Earliest check-in: 4:00 pm Latest checkout: 11:00 am See Airbnb listing #14389167 for additional reviews. We strictly enforce our cancellation policy. If you're concerned about the strictness of the policy, you should buy trip insurance. We will consider doing a non-weekend (Sunday-Thursday), non-holiday one night rental.
